IT for the places that fall through the gap.
Too small to justify a full-time IT person, too dependent on technology to do without one. That gap is the whole reason we are here.
TallSquare exists because of a gap that is easy to describe and hard to sit in. Below a certain size, a business cannot justify a full-time IT person — and above a certain level of dependence on technology, it cannot really do without one either. Most of the organisations we work with are in that gap. They are not failing at IT. They simply have nobody whose actual job it is.
What tends to happen instead is that IT becomes a fifth responsibility for whoever is most comfortable with a computer. That person is usually competent and always busy. The setup they build works, and it keeps working, and the knowledge of how it works stays in their head until the day they are away or they leave. Nothing has gone wrong yet. That is exactly the moment worth doing something about.
What we actually do
We take the whole technology function — the monitoring, the patching, the backups, the security, the accounts, the phones, the wifi — and run it as one thing for a flat monthly fee. Not a break-fix arrangement where our income depends on things going wrong, and not a call centre that reads your ticket for the first time when you open it. The same people, who know how your office is put together, answering the phone.
How we think about the work
Two principles, and they are both about restraint. The first is that security has to be livable: controls that people route around because they are painful are worse than no controls, because they create a false record. The second is that we would rather earn the next month than lock you into it — which is why the assessment is free, why the report is yours whatever you decide, and why your documentation and credentials leave with you if you go.
Where we work
Canal Winchester and the Columbus metro. Most problems get solved remotely within minutes, but cabling, office fit-outs, hardware swaps and the conversations that are genuinely better in person all happen on site across central Ohio. Being local is not a marketing line here; it is the reason we can be at your office the same day when something needs a pair of hands.
Your first thirty days with us.
Switching IT providers has a reputation. Here is the whole process, so there is nothing to be surprised by.
The assessment
We walk your network, devices, and accounts and hand you a plain-English report of what is solid, what is at risk, and what it costs to fix. Yours to keep either way.
The handover
Monitoring, backups, and security tooling go on quietly in the background. We document everything and agree your response windows in writing before anything is signed.
The quiet part
Tickets get answered, patches land overnight, and you get a monthly review that tells you what happened and what is coming. That is the whole job.
What you are entitled to ask us.
Every IT provider says they are certified. Rather than list badges, here is what we think you should require of anyone you are considering — us included.
The first step is a conversation, not a contract.
A free assessment, a plain-English report, and no obligation to do anything with it.
